//your PC can be a lot of fun...
A personal pc can + should be used for fun , whether you are playing the newest games , watching the latest movies , catching up with family + friends via email or social media sites (exercise caution + common sense if you utilise facebook due to its' many security issues) etc ... relax + enjoy your computer ; for work and play !
If you choose to play games , there are many free online game sites ; conversely , you can install gaming apps as well , which will allow for offline playing. Whichever you choose , try to avoid at all costs any games that require java , which is one of the favourite targets for hackers. The most secure games are available in HTML5 + most modern browsers can run these programs. Flash-based games are sort of ok as long as you keep your adobe flash player up to date.
Why not unleash the artist in you ? Windows + Mac + Linux all have an incredible variety of online + downloadable apps that will allow you to paint without the mess + expense ! While you are at it , how about taking those photos + kicking them up a bit with one of the many online/offline photo editing apps ?
And how about calling out your inner ''geek'' by changing themes on your pc , trying different browsers , researching ways to make your pc faster , and if you are really adventurous , what about learning some basic coding + programming ?
But remember , anytime you alter a computer's current state by experimenting with certain types of apps , you do run the risk of a very time-consuming restoration of your OS , not to mention the possibility of losing valuable docs , photos , etc.
As everyone should know , backups of your valuable info must be done on a regular basis just in case disaster strikes (viruses , malware , dysfunctional hard-drive / hardware) ; there are no ifs ands or buts to this -- and set a system restore point before you try any new app !
