//the most secure OS is...
LINUX LIVE DISK ... when unquestionable security is an absolute must , this
is virtually hack-proof + virus-proof + goof-proof. The only real drawback is the slowness of the system due to being ran in the optical drive which is nowhere near as fast as a hard-drive. Consider this method if you do a lot of online banking , credit card purchases , etc. You may ask 'why not run it from a USB flash drive ?'
Because flash drives can have viruses + malware written to them (unless they are write-protected) , especially if you have the ''auto-play'' feature enabled on your pc. This Live Disk is also a great way to make your pc ''guest + kid-proof !''
LINUX ... this OS has become my ''go-to'' for my precious customers that are tired of all the hassles + headaches of Windows (not to mention Apple / Mac which has increasingly become a hacker target) + just want to do what 90% of the average computer users do ; explore the internet , do email + perhaps do some office work (docs , etc) , look at photos + videos , play some games , and engage in a bit of social networking. Do you know Microsoft has put a really awesome office suite on the internet that is free + can be easily accessed by signing up for an account at outlook.com ? Did you know many of the more popular linux distributions come with the libre office suite that is very much compatible with Microsoft Office ? The most popular of all the Linux operating systems seems to be Ubuntu + its' various derivatives such as elementary os , linux mint , etc. Personally, i use Linux for my day-to-day work + i must say what
a pleasure it is to use the computer for the work i have to do + the playing i want to do (smile) with virtually no problems or maintenance hassles. Also you need to know Linux is open-source + maintained by huge communities of people that love what they do + are very much advocates of the open-source concept , principles + ideals.
GOOGLE CHROME OS ... so far , it seems the chrome OS which can be found on 'chromebooks' (notebooks) + 'chrome-boxes' (small desktops) have really taken the market by storm. In my opinion , it is the perfect computing platform for 90% of the average computer users as it is self -updating with good 2-stage protection 'baked-in'. Also , it requires virtually zero maintenance (which the average computer user hates to do) and with a boot time of approx 7-seconds + a 1-3 second shutdown what is there not to like ? By the way, the average user would have to work very very hard to wreck this OS !
MAC OSX / iOS ... the Apple OS is no longer ''bullet-proof'' (not that it ever was).
But Apple has seen incredible growth in the past several years which puts them in
the ''cross-hairs'' of the bad guys. This means Apple has become a target for hackers ; apple owners really need to be 'proactive' in the protection of their rather expensive pieces of hardware. Still , Mac has built up an incredible business by positioning themselves as the 'Mercedes' of the computer industry + you do pay accordingly. The bottom line is Mac still has a lower rate of attacking + hacking by the 'black-hats' than Microsoft Windows. By the way , it may interest you to know Linux + Mac both have the same 'daddy' ; the Unix OS.
GOOGLE ANDROID ... android is based on Linux , but it has become the 'propietary' property of Google + they control it with an iron-fist ! Android is still open-source bu Google kept its ''good stuff'' to themselves. Making matters worse is the Linux community + the inventor of the Linux kernel , Linus Torvalds , have basically washed their hands of the android OS since it has become ''Google-ised''. It is my opinion that its' security problems have come from Google having its' sticky fingers in too many pies as well as outright ignorance.

MICROSOFT WINDOWS ... hands-down the least secure of all the operating systems. Microsoft's obsession with the backwards compatibilty factor has resulted in an overly-complex foundation with many security holes in it. Still it dominates the desktop market + is aiming to become the leader in cloud technology even though they have a lot of catching up to do. The big question is, can Microsoft reclaim its' crown with windows 10 , the OS that does it all ; smartphones , tablets , notebooks + desktops -- one system to rule them all ?!? i have been running it since the tech preview became available + i am somewhat impressed. The one thing i question most about it is how much more secure is it going to be than its' predecessors. UPDATE : the final release (RTM build 10240) is loaded with privacy issues, along with the usual 'bugs' all the major OS releases seem to have nowadays - what ever happened to not releasing something until it is spot-on ?!? sigh.......
